Best to use wax, if only to protect the paint. Especially if you live in an area where they use sand, salt, or gravel in the winter. Wax will keep bug splatters from etching the paint. It also prevents dirt from sticking to the paint in the first place and reduces brake dust on the wheels.
I very highly recommend Klasse All In One. I've just posted some info on this on the 9-5 board, linked below. This seems ideal for you since it provides great protection and only requires application 1-2 times a year.
