We need to establish something.
Does the fuel pump run or not when cranking over the engine cold?
You have to make that clear first of all by hooking up a test light to fuel pump feed wire under rear seat and look for power when cranking over and listen for the buzz.
The ECT sensor does not control power to fuel pump so if you don't have any power there, you can forget about ECT sensor for time being and focus on fuel pump relay and what makes that relay "tick".
You will find the same fuel pump power at fuse 32 and 38, while cranking, in dash fuse box.
The fuel pump relay is a simple on/off relay but the ground signal is supplied from the theft alarm box so you need to establish if the fuel pump relay receives proper power and ground to all 4 pins.
All this can be difficult to figure out and you might need a wiring diagram to follow the different wires and also you need to know what is suppose to happen at the relay.
Fuel pump relay is located under driver side dash board (US spec) so you need to remove the kick panel and lower the relay bracket down.
You should have power on pin 86 and 30 while cranking over and a ground signal on pin 85 and power out to fuse 32 and 38 from pin 87.
If the ground signal is missing on pin 85, I think something fishy is going on with the alarm unit.
All depending on if the problem was present or not when you spent $700.00 at the shop, they should have tested this already.
If the problem was not present and the car started perfect during the shop visit, they might have just tried with some possible scenario stuff.
But if you have power at the fuel pump, you can forget about all I wrote.
