Amazing! I was just going to post this same question!

I am looking at a car on Saturday, which we might get for my younger sister. Several people on this board have advised against the car for my penniless-grad-student, non-enthusiast sister because of the maintenance costs. So I've been thinking about an extended warranty to go along with the car.
But you posted almost the same exact question I was going to ask -- particularly WHICH COMPANIES are better and worse than others.
I have another question... WHERE do you get the work done? I understand that if the ext. warranty is through Saab, then the work is done at a Saab dealership. But what about 3rd party aftermarket extended warrantees?
Do you have to go to a shop that honors the warranty? Would dealers honor it? Or do the warranty companies reimburse for repairs, just as an insurance company would?
Thanks!
