I have had my major services done by Garry Small in Portland, OR, and had asked them about idler pulleys each time (due to hearing about them so much on this board) and yet they were never changed(?)

But last service it was in my serp belt that was replaced, yet still not the pulleys I guess cause they were deemed to be okay(ish). But I never really got an answer as to why they didn't change them. Obviously they weren't that great and at that millage they probably should just have swapped them, for prevention if nothing else.

I only had to (barely) mention this today (i mean, not a complaint or anything, just a mention), and the manager (Randy -- a super good guy), immediately said, "your right they should have been changed based on the milage. We'll work with you on the labor since it would have been half the billable time to change them while the belt was off. Bring it in tomorrow. We'll do it while you wait."

(another reason to love saab and saab-only dealers)

So they're only charging half hour labor, which makes it not worth it for me to do myself, and makes my like my dealer. So high customer satisfaction, indeed! I highly recommend them to any folks in the Portland area.

Oh, and if ChrisR is reading this...I too LOVE my saab :)
One has to ask about this and that failure to anticipate them and to treat them as they come up...it's okay to moan about this or that every once in a while if you truly love the car I think, and I/ WE (well most of us in this group) all do :)

Drive safe and thanks again for all the support and tips.
Tom.
