m.p.: Thanks for the info. I don't have alldata (though I know you recommend it). I do have "2:1 Basic Engine B258".
Directions in 'Basic Engine' are pretty lame for the oil pan if I have the right section, 220-8 "replacement of sump... (in situ)". It just says "raise the car, drain oil, remove subframe, remove bolts, remove the sump...." This is not enough! There is no torque listed for the subframe. There is no discussion here of the ATF guard plate. There is also some kind of support shown under the engine in the graphic.
I agree that we can do it at home with a jack. Shouldn't the engine still be supported by the motor mounts?

Sounds good. 'Basic Engine' describes all of these parts. Looks straightforward.
Q: Do you think we should replace the o-ring on the suction pipe that they refer to? Replacement is not called for, but about every other o-ring on the car usually calls for replacement. I do not have a part number though.
