If one wants a pure pleasure vehicle that's not driven often, you can do what I prescribe below.

Make sure you buy a sports car on the lighter side and one with as few of these options as possible...

air conditioning, power steering, power seats, power windows or lots of airbags

Then get rid of some trim pieces, mats, carpeting, sound insulation, speaker grills, cosmetic engine covers, possibly even the passenger seat or rear seats if applicable, get lighter wheels, suspension pieces and so on. I bet you can take 200 lbs plus out of a car if you try hard enough.

Just don't remove anything structural like I've seen people do in some of those hotrod magazines.
