Whatever you do don't hit the enter key before you get to the body of the message. Boy oh boy.

Anyhow, my first trip down the 1/4 mile was in 1972 at the wheel of a '64 Malibu with a 427 in it. Still scary to think about it. If you areserious about getting that "Hole Shot" go to a Music Store and get youself a Metronome-you know the thing musicians use to learn timing/synchopation. Set it for the lights on the tree or as close as you can and teach yourself to anticipate the green. It works with some practice. You'll be amazed with the faster cars you can carry all the way to the Line.

Good luck on your Friday nights. Ours was Wednesday with the Funny Cars--What a trip-- until the local towns around Englishtown grew up and the Wed. night races got shorter for us-they had to run because they brought the gate. Sundays were too busy with the pros for us locals to even get into the pits. Gave up and started crewing for a guy who ran modifieds at Wall Stadium (NJ). The track was short-maybe a quarter mile but was banked the same as Daytona. You could hardly walk up the banking. Talk about a fishbowl!

And yes, Saabs aren't really made for drags--especially one like mine with an auto. Tired of shifting all these years.
