There's another side to that argument - predictability. On more than one occasion I have entered a turn or some other slowing-down scenario and expected power to be on tap coming out but APC says Nope. That can be downright dangerous. The worst is on wide-radius turns, like freeway interchanges and such - losing power midway through a turn due to the APC knocking boost back is a great way to plow into the guardrail. Passing is another situation... When I pull into oncoming traffic I wanna know exactly how much power I have to pull ahead. APC can interfere with that.
My personal opinion, FWIW, is APC is great for a daily driver. It allows me to use varying grades of fuel, allows me to head up into the mountains or into the valleys and not worry about detonation. But on a race car, or even one used for regular high-performance driving I'd rather not have APC on board...
