Taken post intercooler inlet temp measurements? If not you might be shocked to find your motor injesting 200*+ air!
Piston meltdown, oil consumption etc is not a by product of high inlet temps. Hp production and detonation is. :-)
Get a good thermo coupler and do some tests. You might be shocked!
In regards to intercooler I couldn't agree more. The stocker probably flows enough to support 180hp if that. (I have no empiracal data to back up my thoughts but...the thing looks draconion by modern standards)
At my boost levels I've actually thought about removing the IC and going 2.5" right off the turbo into the TB and using water injection. Water will lower inlet temps about 90* and based on my calculations that very well may be more of a temp drop than the stock IC without water! For a car running 14psi this may be a major improvment.
As soon as work slows a bit and I have more time to goof around with the Saab (And the Nissans) I'll do some testing. :-) So lets see, I'm removing the IC AND APC and make the car run better and safer? What! LOL ;-)
