I think you have misunderstud something, the MAF capable of reading figures way past the Hz/(g/s) table give out in WIS, if that is your source of information on the unit.
Please let me know if you're more interested in the topic, I have some material on this topic. The MAF output is not linear, its a ^3 curve, actually two are curves are combined to give a more accurate reding for low airmass values (I guess this is a emission aimer...)
