The V-6 was discontinued because of consumer rejection.  It uses a timing belt
instead of a timing chain, and requires replacement every 30,000 miles. Saab
picks up the tab to 95,000 miles, but then you're on your own. In '94 (first
year -- I had one) it had problems with water pump pulley alignment and a
couple other service bulletins, but they should have been fixed by '96.

Other than that, it's a very drivable engine -- better low-end torque than the
turbo, but not quite the high-end power. It NEEDS the rev limiter, though,
because it just keeps accelerating past the red line!

Price should be WELL below Blue Book, because they're not popular. You should
be able to get a good deal; otherwise look around...
