Here's one from a clients '06 9-3 with only 42k miles. Have replaced countless 9-3s now, upwards of 25-30? Seeing Chadwicks most recent thread on the timing chain guide bolt and guide breaking apart, makes me consider adding it to the "while your in there" list for broken tensioner guide repairs. 80% of the failure I see are exactly this, broken guide with the tensioner in tact. Only a few where the rear of the tensioner is blown out.
Imagine the crap show we would have if these chains commonly popped off the sprockets and lodged in the timing chain....
When replacing a WP have found it far easier to just add in a couple hours to include R&R the timing cover. Replace the BS tensioner w guide which eliminates the possibility of having to "add on" to the quote in case the stupid Saab WP tool allows the BS chain tensioner to extended one tooth.
Id rather explain the costs than apologize for the quality of any job. Im not going to be the cheapest and I don't try to be.
