I've now had my 9-5 V6 for 30+ months and 36K miles. Having previously driven a HOT 9000CSE I was concerned about the reliability of the V-6 having heard horror stories, but mine has been bulletproof so far. As the risk of stirring controversy, I wonder why Saab has not placed more emphasis on developing the V-6 which is far more refined than the 4, has less turbo lag and more power potential. The main fault with the engine at present is that it has little punch over 5,000 RPM. With just a few pounds more boost or maybe different cam profiles, this engine could be a stormer, blowing Aeros into the weeds! Maybe the bottom end can't take the torque or possibly increasing the boost would generate too much for the drivetrain. Any comments?
