Weird. I guess he doesn't really want to sell Saabs. While I can't say exactly how it works with Saabs, I know that with other permium marques such as Volvo the dealership I have previously patronized get extra money if they get all "excellent" ratings, particulary with service. My Volvo dealership actually put stickers on their service invoices asking for Excellent ratings, and followed up with telephone calls, before Volvo NA forced them to abandon this practice. Presumably the salesman in your case lost some of the extra money the dealership would have made.
This type of crap from a sales "professional" is totally unacceptable. I agree with you that "excellent" means excellent service, not just "what's to be expected when spending well over $30,000 on a supposedly luxury/premium car" service. I would presonally have that SOBs job with a telephone call to the dealership owner explaining that you do have other choices, that you chose to spend *more* to support his dealership, but that you'll never be back for even the lowliest oil change unless that salesman is on the street by the end of the day. It's much harder to get good repeat customers that salesman these days. If you don't want to cost that guy his job, at least get some concession from the dealer about this extreme customer satisfaction problem (and they though your rating wasn't high enough before you received this crap?!) such as the accessory of your choice within reason.
