SAAB Pricing and a Rant

I bought my first SAAB nearly 20 years ago. I bought it because it was $500 less than a Volvo 240, was FWD and had an extra gear in the transmission. I subsequently suffered through one of the Malmo-produced SAABs that lead to the GM takeover. Even THAT wasn't enough to discourage me, I considered and tried the "new" 900, and that car had enough GM in it that I bought a Volvo. The Volvo hasn't been too bad, well, except for dealer service. I plan to keep it for my kid in any case. So when I started thinking about another car, SAAB came to mind again. When I visited my SAAB dealer I was amazed that new SAABs had the look, the feel, even the SMELL of my old SAABs. But the pricing - sticker $5000 more than a comparable Volvo and $4000 more than a comparably equipped BMW 3-series??? But then I discovered that actual sales prices appear to bear little to the sticker or invoice.
Reading about these $3000-$2500 incentives off pricing which is at invoice suggests trading camels or Persian rugs!
(Q. "How much is that SAAB?" A. "How much is it worth to you? Lets talk. OK, go home. Maybe it'll be less tomorrow. Depends on GM. Maybe it'll be more. Who knows? I sure don't.")
Seems that pricing a car would be a pretty fundamental thing for all those bright young GM MBAs to have figured out by now.
Just my thought.
