The NG900/9-3 is based on the Vectra A platform. The Vectra A platform was used for the Opel Vectra between 1988 and 1995.
The 9-5 is based on the Vectra B platform. The Vectra B platform was used for the Opel Vectra between 1996 and some future date.
How could the NG900/9-3 be based on the Vectra B platform that did not exist when the NG900 was designed? Why would Saab use a platform from 1988 when the 9-5 was designed? To save anything by sharing with Opel they had to use a current Opel platform, e.g. the Vectra B, not the obsolete Vectra A.
A look from below will show that the NG900/9-3 and 9-5 are quite different.
