I had a similar problem which was the pressure sensor at the condensor had the cable broken off. The ACC needs a reading from the pressure Sensor to send a signal to the ECU to provide ground for the AC relay. There are other inputs like over temp.
You should be able to get a code out of the ACC with a Tech2 .......that is how we found my problem. I also found it with an OP CON unit hooked to my PC.....code was shorted or dis connected pressure sensor. To get to this sensor you have to take out the passenger side headlight and it is right there on that end of the condenser which is the first radiator to the front.
When I did the A/C reset, this defect gave me a code 22 which interpreted to a software error, but was really this disconnected sensor. So if you get a code 22 check the pressure sensor.
You can check the compressor by providing ground at the A/C compressor relay....this is what the ECU does. Or you can provide 12VDC at the compressor connector behind the passenger headlighj to see if the compressor is working.
Good luck.....I have been there!!
