Well there's a sign of relief! Mine must of dropped with the removal of the pan. The o ring was so bad I couldn't push the pipe back in place without it dropping again. I've always wondered if the pan gives it any support and at the same time wondering how long I was driving with it dropped. But I'm quick to believe anyone so I'll rest at ease knowing no harm was done. My car had 75,k and the o ring for that pipe was hard as a rock, removing it the thing just crumbled.
Having the poster mention the mechanics removed the pan on the car and no mention of a oil pipe kinda makes a guy wonder. I don't recall the poster mentioning the mileage of the car but I'd guarantee the o ring needed replacement. I'm jumping on the turbo oil seal train on this one that's a ton of oil usage a quart every 150 miles.
