From someone who has an '89 SPG and had (well ... I still have it, but that's another story), here's my experience:
1. There's no light to indicate that cruise is on for the '88. In the US, we got it in '89. The '88s had a place for it, but the hole for the light was empty. I believe that they had it in Europe in '88, though.
2. Upshift indicator light - either the bulb is missing, burned out, or the upshift vaccum switch has bought the farm.
3. Lighted switches - I believe that we got those in the US in '89. Neither my '88 SPG or my '88 900S had those.
4. Turn signal lever - sorry, I can't help you on that one, but other people have had some good advice here on getting that last screw.
enjoy your '88. In quite a few ways, I liked my '88 better than the '89.
