The failure was possibly due to a low quality installation rather than the quality of the poly bushing.
I installed the dirt cheap black MTC poly bushings 2 years (27,000 miles) ago. I took them out while doing the strut job to put waterproof grease on them and on everything they touch, hoping to permanently stop the noise. The cheap bushings are in excellent condition.
The correct method is to do the rough assembly while the car is raised, then do the final torque on the nut and four bolts after the car has been lowered. If you don't have enough room to work then drive onto a ramp or a couple of boards. Tighten the 13 mm and 14 mm bolts to 37 ft. lbs. and tighten the 18 mm nut to 48 ft. lbs. You have to estimate the 48.
