Great writeup, Noel.
A couple thoughts:
You don't need to do the step of removing the harness from the false bulkhead, pulling its connectors thru that elbow one at a time. Just lay false firewall/bulkhead with harness over on top of engine.
And the idea you have in there, that maybe one should really disconnect the harness at the engine end, is asking for punishment indeed. About every single wire goes to a different connector, and the idea is, they stay connected at motor end, just pull the harness from inside the bulkhead and keep it with motor.
Inside the aquarium, the gray multiconnector is held onto the bracket with one long hex-head (8mm?) sheet metal screw at its top, then you can unlatch it, and the other multiconnector goes to the bottom of the ECU, which as I said slides up from the sheet metal bracket once two springy parts of the bracket are bent back a bit at top.
