Removing auto trans valve body Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Sat, 15 Oct 2016 09:09:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In a last-ditch effort to see if my '97 CSE can be saved from the scrapheap due to transmission problems I'm checking the governor and the valve body. There is a very high probability that I'll make matters even worse, but since the alternative is the boneyard anyway there's not much to lose by trying.
I've printed out the relevant Saab tech documents at Townsend as a guide. Governor is out, seals look OK but I have to go further in to check the valves.
I'm now working on getting the valve body out. Have removed the 10 large-head T27 bolts and it's loose, but there is a pipe running from the valve body to the transmission case that does not want to come out. This is not mentioned in the technical docs. I've tried prying up a bit but it won't budge, don't want to use excessive force and damage it. Is there some trick to getting this pipe off?
