James,
No worries, we want to see how many lines we can get in the same thread here! :-)
OK, here are two other things I can suggest:
The fuel pressure may be low. This could be caused by a restricted filter or by the pickup screen for the pump being clogged. The filter is easy to test, replace it with a new one. The pump is a bit of a pain to get out, you may want to have your Saab mechanic do that, but hopefully you can watch over his shoulder. There is a plastic pickup mounted to the bottom of the pump with a rubber hose - the plastic screen could either be clogged with debris (often a car that has sat a long time will get rust in the tank and then little bits of rust will clog the screen) or the plastic may have deteriorated and clogged the hose.
Another possibility is that the control pressure in the fuel system is too high which can be caused by the fuel return line (from the fuel distributor back to the tank) being restricted. If the line got kinked somehow that can make the engine run very lean.
This is all best diagnosed with the fuel pressure gauges. If your tech has these, great. I will be glad to lend you mine if all else fails.
You may want to check all of the fuse, relay, and electrical connections for the fuel pump - it is possible that something is heating up as the pump runs and causing high resistance, although this usually blows the fuse.
I do really like to start a fuel system diagnosis with the pressure gauges, if the pressures are all good, then you should find a way to get fresh gas in it, then we can start looking at the airflow meter.
Best,
Gary
