It can be done but yes, it is a bear. I have never seen this done while still keeping the d-jet. Usually, this is done to ELIMINATE the d-jet and install CIS. That being said, the later 16 valve 900s used only slightly more pressure in their electronic fuel injection than is used with d-jet. I just finished putting a 16V in a '72 that had d-jet. The fuel pump is the original (at least in part number) for the '72. All works well. The pumps in the 900s were different as the years went on...the CIS cars had a larger diameter pump...but seeing numerous 900s converted from 8V to 16V, I know that most never swap the pump. This would indicate that all the line pressure created in the CIS is simply dumped back in the tank when it goes over the prescribed limit of the fuel pressure regulator in the E-jet system. will the D-jet work the same way? after all this typing, I'd say yes. But then again...
