Well, I'm not sure what "nut" you want to turn to spin the engine over, but I would use the six-sided area on the cam near the chain sprocket to spin it over. I believe the size is 1 - 1/16" open ended wrench. You can bump the starter to crank the engine to get the upper sprocket close to the mark, then turn it the rest of the way with a wrench. The flywheel mark should line up, as well as the mark on the distributor < the tip of the rotor should be pointing at the mark.
I wouldn't trust the "I can feel the fuel coming up" approach. You can hook a gauge in-line the hose and fuel rail(at the firewall end) to see if you have the correct pressure, or at least remove the line, place it in a container, and have someone crank the engine over.
