Larry, It sounds like a fuel filter. Try it with starting fluid to confirm. Jumping to the timing chain is bypassing many more likely things. The key to D-jet is keep it simple. Don't jump all around or you will get confused and make more work. If it runs with the starting fluid then dies, it is most likely the filter. If it doesn't start with the starting fluid, remove your injection trigger points and clean them with carb cleaner then retry. If it doesnt start then, check plugs, cap/rotor, ignition points gap/dwell and timing. Yes, a condensor can give spark and still be bad, but not common. If you're new to D-jet, I'd suggest you look up D-jet in the archives here and you will find a lot of information. If it turns out to be a fuel filter, cut the old one in half with a hacksaw before throwing it out to examine for excessive rust. You could have a rusty tank as your real problem. Best of luck.
