I can see no reason why you can't get a new 99 winshield fitted. As far as I know the 99 windshield is the same across all years. I've replaced the winshield on my 1972 99 with a brand new item and it fitted no probs....but it did take the glass shop a few attempts to figure out that a 99 is not a 900..... and that a new 99 windshield with scratches in it is not acceptable! but I did get one eventually (without the scratches!).
I also inquired at the time about a replacement windscreen for my 78 99T and the glass shop reckoned they had some in stock (ie 1978 was no different to 1972 99) but I sold the car before I actually tried to buy and fit one.
Sounds like dodgy repairs on your car to me, but I could be wrong!!
If it is the same shop who did the repairs and who can't fit the glass.....don't let them get away with it!!(unless they offer a huge discount and you need the money)
Hope this helps
Justin
