9-3 Potential Buyer Questions

Hello SAAB owners,
I am considering purchasing a 2001 9-3 Auto. The other cars that I am looking at are Volvo S40, VW Jetta/Passat, Audi 1.8 and Nissan Altima.
Having never owned a SAAB before, I had a few questions:
- What kind of maintenance is required for things like spark plugs, timing belt, coolant and oil change? The brochure says every 16K Km (10K miles).
- Does the turbo require a cool down period? I used to have a turbo timer on my old car (MR2 turbo). During my test drive, I was surprised at how quietly the turbo spools up (had to look at the gauge and feel the power surge to confirm).
- Is it mandatory to use premium fuel because of the turbo? Our gas prices and taxes are higher in Canada :(
- Any specific reliability concerns. every car seems to have itsquirks.
- Any dealer conerns, being owned and shared by GM/Saturn/Isuzu? Most dealer posts in this group seemed positive. I live in Toronto, Canada.
Currently, there is a 0.9 financing offer and therefore I am planning on buying this one as a keeper. I think it's got a unique cool styling that won't be outdated quickly (unlike Japanese cars). Also, I can return my leased and slightly over mileage 98 Jimmy to the SAAB dealer as well.
regards, Paul
