I just sold the last of my 3 VWs yesterday and in a way I'm glad to be rid of them all... only because of the dealers. I've loved the cars but working through warranty issues has always been a nightmare. It doesn't get any better with Audi. I had one of those and sold it a year ago.
My main issue is that when you take the car in for 3 warranty repairs, on average they will fix two and break two more. They are not helpful and don't treat you as customers expect. Lexus, BMW and even Toyota do a much better job. This is what kept me away from VW/Audi on my recent purchase.
I can't compare my VW experience to Saab because I've only had the Saab for 6 weeks, so the jury's out. The other thing is that VW parts are very expensive. More than for my BMW. I just can't see it.
These are my experiences and my opinions. I hope that VW dealers have gotten better because they build great cars. But until I have definitive proof I'm spending my auto-dollars elsewhere.
