I don't have experience with the current Audi but, to point out the obvious, it is smaller than the 9-5 and doesn't have the utility of the 9-3. I would suspect (this is a guess) that the Audi has better handling (or at least has the potential with tuning) than the 9-3. The 9-5 is rather good and with Aero suspension very good. Although I can't offer a comparision to the Audi the 9-5 won't disappoint.
Are you looking at Audi AWD or FWD? Based on my experience with the second generation 900 (basically the same as the current 9-3) when equiped with good serious snow tires I have found the car to be outstanding in snow. Can't speak to the 9-5 in the snow but everything I have heard as been favorable provide you have winter tires.
I don't think the 9-5 repair history has been spotty. In fact it has been getting very favorable ratings. Of the SAABs, cost aside, the 9-5 is the better basic car. From my perspective it blends reasonable size, safety, value, and performance. Of course the 9-3 has the utility of the hatchback and can be had at a deeply discounted price. The SAAB power plants are more appealing to me.
Good luck
