1.8T engine -- a gem

Coolnight,
Don't know where you get your information about the 1.8T engine not lasting long. If our A4 is a representative sample, this little gem of an engine will run a lot longer than what you have said. Our car is running strong at 100,000 miles. It's even chipped, so it's more highly stressed than a stock engine.
Based on our experience with this fine car, I would not hesitate to recommend the 1.8T engine.
As to your statement about the 3.0 engines not having the power that they should, what do you have to support that? The tests I've seen thus far in the car mags. seem to indicate otherwise.
