The K, MG and SI all are consistant with road dust and perhaps some road salt. Some Silicon comes from the pistons as this is part of the alloy. Zinc and calcium has gone up by a marginal amount, but probably well within measurement and product variations, so nothing to be concerned with with that.


But the Al in the analysis is low. So I also would suggest an inspection of the air box and filter fit. Check for signs of dust on the perimeter of the fitler surroung where a seal should not allow for dust and air flow to take place. For K&N type filters, these conform to the shape of the air box, which distorts over time with engine heat. If the filter is re-installed swapped end for end, the filter can then not fit right. Some solids do get past any air filter however, so these gains may be all that one can expect.

Wear particles are typically small enough that most of them pass through the oil filter and can only be removed by draining. But a bypass fitler will remove these, but not much room to install one of those. The iron and steel particles are hard and can be a wear factor for soft babbit bearing sheels and will scuff camshaft lobes and other things where the oil films are very thin and the lubrication is characterized as 'boundary layer'. One thing that you can do is use a very strong drain plug magnet. This traps the ferrous wear particles and removes them from recirculaton wear duty. The result is a small amount of magnetic 'mud', that feels very smooth and creamy on you finger tips. AVLUBE no longer offers their product. Some have put magnets on the outside of oil filters. There may be other possibilities too.
