Are these the Philips bulbs that have just started appearing in the US? I noticed a lot of them are made in Korea, so they're not the same as the highly rated European-made bulbs (French, I think) that they have in the UK. You might try getting some Osram Silverstars, or even the top-of-the-line Philips bulbs from http://www.powerbulbs.com. They were both tested very well in AutoExpress's last bulb test, and both put out something like 30% more light than a standard bulb.
