I have Silverstars now. According to Sylvania's own web site, they provide no more lumens than Sylvania's own lowliest OEM replacement bulb. That is my personal impression too, i.e., that the brightness is nothing special, but I have no way of testing that. The light is a bluer or whiter color than stock bulbs. At this point, I am going to see how long they last. When they die, however, OEMs are going in unless someone reliable comes up with empirical numbers to back up the advertising puffery.
I am not here to knock the idea of a brighter bulb. I really do want a brighter bulb. I just do not think now that it can really be said with much confidence at all that such brightness is really out there in an off the shelf product we can put in our cars.
OSRAM is Sylvania. Same same company.
The Philips were of European manufacture, a conscious choice I made at the time.
