It does sound like the parking brake is at fault. How quickly does the sound go away? My scenario is this: I pull the car out of the garage, set the p-brake, get out and close the garage door, get in, release the p-brake and pull out. I get a rythmic "squeak, squeak" for 2-3 car lengths, then it goes away. There isn't much that can be done about it, so as long as the squeak goes away within a couple car lengths, you're probably ok.
Clarification, the p-brake can be adjusted, in a manner similar to the adjustment for any drum brake, but since there isn't a positive return on the shoes, they will drag slightly when first released. The alternative is to have them so loose that they may not grab tightly.
