Interesting. Back in the 80's my Dad had an '84 GTV6, which had inboard discs (kind of odd at first to look through the rear wheels and not see a disc or drum!), and I couldn't remember what it had in the way of parking brake. He had commented that it was cake to change the pads on that design.
In retrospect, that the 164 had that design doesn't surprise me, IIRC that car shared its platform (and..?) with the Saab 9000 and some Lancia model.
