Considering what I've spent on my 900's vs. my 1979 B200 318, its the lack of frustration that does it for me. Its much more fulfilling to replace parts on my van than on the saab. I feel like when I fix the van, it thanks me for it. When I fix the Saab, I'm one week away from something else going wrong. Also, parts are so cheap for an old Dodge van, that I can do sensible preventative repairs without feeling like I spent hundred. I can do all 4 brakes on the van for what it will cost me to do just on of the Saab wheels.
To add insult to injury, my friend drives an early 80's 911 Carrera daily which he has serviced in the Fall and Spring of every year for routine maintenance, oil change, etc. When I found out his mechanic's rate is considerably less that my trusty saab tech, I had heard enough.
