I had a few 9000's(4) and then a 9-5 wagon. The 9-5 was luxurious and modern compared to the 9000's. At first, I thought it was the ultimate. After about a year it started to wear off. It was extremely trouble prone, although under warranty. But mostly it became very ordinary. None of my previous Saabs ever felt that way. I missed the hatch, the wagon's NOT the same, and the feel was simply not as solid as the older saabs. The seat position is low compared to older Saabs, and I don't like that. I had leased the 9-5 for 42 mos(25k/yr), and was very glad to get out of it.

I purchased another 9000 (a '91) as well as an older "beater" convertible. I was absolutely exstatic about both of them. They amounted to an investment of about $4500 total...roughly 9 months of lease payments. Between the 2 of them, I spent about 2 days a month taking them to be repaired at a cost of about $250/mo. I actually enjoyed that time and became friends with the techs. In addition I worked on them at least 3 weekend days a month, mostly cosmetics. It could have gone on indefinitely as both these cars are still on the road and new owners are benefitting from all my new parts and sweat!
My happy Saab story came to an end with the arrival of Zak! He came to live with us at 3 months (I was 59)and is doing well at 23 months. He is an incredible blessing, but saps my energy and time. I am now enjoying a new, expensive, simple Japanese car...and my grandson Zak! When He is older, I will again own a 9000T and a 900TC.

My recommendation, if you have time for a Saab, make it a 9000! In my opinion, The single BEST ALL AROUND sports sedan of all time. Some say it couldn't be duplicated for $75k today. I've driven them all....nothing compares.

'06 Infiniti M35 15k awesome...not a hatch...not a SAAB!
'05 Mazda3 hatch flawless at 21k....nearly as fun as a c900!(wife's)
'88 SPG 151k was my son's...can't sell it yet...may go to my son in law
