I find that hard to believe, given how low the 9000 seating position is, especially compared to my new car! At first, it felt ok in the new car, and it does make getting in and out a snap (but not so high that you are climbing into or jumping out of an SUV). However, the higher seating position really does disconnect you from getting the feel of the road and how the car is behaving in the turns. I don't know if I would like a seating position even lower than my 9000 was. My new (well, one year old) Japanese car is fairly enjoyable - except on long road trips. Around town it's a blast, and frugal on gas (well that's true on long road trips as well, but not as big a savings as in town). Unlike your Mazda, I cannot say it's flawless at only 16k miles. It's had suspension problems already (one for the third time), and now a mysterious engine knock. Thanks for the great feedback!
