There were a hold bunch of cars that had turbos slapped on without much thought during that era. Dodge Daytonas, Plymouth Lasers, GLH Horizons, Mustang SVO's, Pontiac 2000's, etc. The practise then was to use large turbos for big horsepower gains. But the result was a lot of fried engines. I was selling Pontiacs at the time and on the Turbo 2000 the hood would get so hot after a short drive you'd burn your hands if you tried to show the customer the engine. I don't know where you were at the time but in the car business GN/GNX engines were known to be real hand granades, which is why they didn't offer a warrenty (a real tip off don't you think?)and probably why they stopped building them. As for your Bonneville, that was a whole different era. The big three did make some pretty nice cars during the '50's and 60's. One of my favorites was the Olds Toronado my dad bought new in '66. After 1970 give or take, they stopped giving a crap for about 20 years.
