were all essentially powered like the Aero because:
1. the model cycle was extremely long in the tooth, and the mfr had to throw in something, and the least expensive spec booster is tuning up the boost
2. so few cars were sold in the last few years of the model cycle that it made no sense to maintain two drive trains specs (in addition to auto vs. manual).
The OG9-5 came out with 185hp/205ft-lb, and that was plenty even for the heavier wagon. I have one. In terms of real usable power (i.e. power at 3000rpm or less), it's actually much much more powerful/responsive than 330i at 225hp or Accord V6 at 240hp but require much higher rpm to get the power.
