First let me give some background. I consider myself to be a Saab fanatic, above all other cars. Over the years, since I started driving, I've had a total of 11 Saabs, all of which pre 1988. I've also owned 2 bmws, also old, pre 1988.
When I pop into a saab dealer, for dealer-only parts, I'm often dressed in my scruffy working-on-the-car clothes. I get seriously looked down to by virtually everyone in the place, including the parts guy! This is something I've experienced at 3 different dealers. Moreover, they're extremely reluctant to help out when needed, eg for pressing bearings in/out etc.
OTOH, my bmw experiences have been very different. Regardless how I'm dressed, they're always courteous and friendly. I occasionally get approached by sales guys trying to interest me in a new model. And when I needed bushes pressed into my newly purchased wish-bone, they were very cooperative, and did it for nothing.
I know this is odd, and I'd expect it to be the other way round. I find it very disappointing, especially given how I feel about saabs.
