I asked this of Saab USA and they either could not answer or refused to answer for competitive reasons. In any case they didn't answer it begging off on the complications of forming an answer, which is OK by me.
It's this: Will the new Saab diesel meet (or exceed) Ca emission spec?
New diesels can make a huge contribution to fuel conservation if they catch on but if their particulate profile is still unacceptable, then where are we? Good on CO2, maybe, but NASA is taking a hard line on black carbon aerosols (soot) while saying we should not drop the concentration on CO2 as the main game.
