or are there just so many on the road that Roadfly is just a listing of owner horror stories that occur with any premium brand?
In the next few months I will be trading my beloved Viggen for a more sedate and comfortable daily driver and while I'll give a CPO 9-5 a hard look as well as a really incentivized 2004 9-3SS, I will be looking at other brands, thus far including the Acura TL, the G35 and the 330i. I've been frequenting those boards to try to get a feel for each of the cars and it's pretty revealing that those 3 seem to be near the top of everyone's lists.
CarsDirect is offering a price of $37K and change for a 330i SMG + premium + sport package due to current factory incentives and obviously this is a great deal on a great car, but frequenting the E46 board on Roadfly makes me think that these cars are meant for leasing and/or selling before the warranty expires AS A RULE. Can anyone tell me if I'm on the money or completely wrong about that?
Admittedly I've never driven any of these 3 cars but have driven the 9-3SS Arc and Linear and do like them but . . . depreciation. I think at this point, pending test drives aside, the TL is tops for features for the money, reliability (it's really a Honda) and resale. The G35 interior is weak (I mean plastic _painted_ to look like metal?), and I don't want a 330i if it's going to spend as much time in the shop as some of the folks I'm seeing on the board. I will also give a 9-3SS Arc a very good going over before making my decision though, so no hard feelings, please.
Finally I wish SAAB would adjust their MSRPs to more closely reflect real selling prices. Additionally keeping incentives private causes a place like CarsDirect to not really offer a very good deal on the SAAB, and, as I was telling another SAAB nut, to the naive comparison shopper it makes it look like the SAAB is more expensive than the competing models when this is definitely not the case. I think that SAAB needs to get their pricing in order or the depreciation problem will never go away. I know that I didn't pay MSRP for my Viggen but to other people who might think I did and see what it's worth today??!!! HOLY DEPRECIATION, BATMAN!
