Inspection can be a one-way street. If the pistons have NO marks, then you know you're good. If they're marked from hitting valves, then it can go either way. My dad threw a timing belt in a Fiat 128, & bent ALL the valves. The pistons had marks, but they weren't really deep gouges. No marks in the cylinder walls, so he decided to leave em. New valves & it was OK, but there was some amount of risk, I guess.
Look for advice or even engines-for-sale on honda-tech.com...
