Car hadn't had the valve clearances adjusted in at least 30k, I think, so valve lash would have been misleading anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if the lash was high and the vibration caused by that contributed to the camshaft breaking.
New camshaft is in, and I'm going to install the timing belt and give 'er a go this afternoon. Junkyard hunting is actually a lot of fun...kinda like apple picking, wandering around a grassy hillside looking for that perfect donor car...
Can anyone explain to me why Honda put the timing belt tensioner behind a cover that can only be removed if you first remove the belts and pulleys for the a/c and power steering? (rhetorical question...I don't need an answer <g>)
