You have a point there, but in tuning a car I am not sure its the same thing. If the owner wants more and the tuner advised him against it and the owner of the car accepts all liability and responsibility for upping the boost some more. I see nothinig wrong with that.
The regular staged tunes are the ones with reputation and concervation in mind for longevity. I think we all take somewhat of a chance when we start tuning and running our cars harder. There are simple stag 3's from other tuners with cracked pistons, there are stock cars with cracked pistons. You kind of take your chances somewhat when you start tuning for bigger power.
I race my car and want it balls out... I accept all responsibiltiy if the motor blows up. Without a tuner that is willing to give me the a/f and boost levels I want for my car with my set-up, I am stuck and looking for a tuner that will give me what I want.
As long as people are warned about the possible damages in running an agressive tune, I see nothing wrong with a tuner giving that customer what he wants.
For the people that want a concervative tune that will be as safe as possible with as much power as possible, well that seems to be the norm for most of what I have seen in Jak's staged tunes.
