wow,
I go out to sea for a few months and come back, and the saabnet bb's are on fire with all sorts of drama!
Just my luck to leave when things get good...
anyways...
i must admit i've only read a few of these posts here, and i have pretty much NO idea what is going on other than...
1. someone went to jak for a tune
2. car is having problems now
3. someone else is bad-mouthing jak on the bb's
4. the issue has still not been solved.
am i right here on those key issues????
I'd just like to say, that i was one of the first people to make a long trip down to jaks for his expert knowledge in tuning.
At the time when i did this, FIVE YEARS OR SO AGO, there was NO ONE else who was skilled enough in AMERICA to tune my 1990 9000 turbo with the di/apc system.
He did a flawless job, and he'll be the first to tell you, that he was scared about what i was asking him to do to my car.
I was pushing my stock t25 with upgraded cams, a full exhaust, and mostly stock fuel components to 21 psi, and trying to get it to run constant at 21 psi.
He practically begged me to let it taper off down some towards the end of the rpm spectrum,
and i was smart enough to listen to him for one...
but if i HAD blown my turbo, or anything else, I would NEVER have blamed him for any of the problems I was having.
My car was never faster than it was the day I drove it out of his shop in North carolina after a 3 day stay there... up to New York where i live.
And His ecu programming and corresponding hardware tuning have run in PERFECT harmony since the day he last touched them.
Like i said, I don't know what the deal is here, but you dont blame the tuner for any misfortunes you have, especially when you go against their initial advice.
I overclock custom computers for friends, and they tell me they want it as fast as possible... and i give them the "safety limit", but they always want to go further. I explain the risks, blowing processor, ruining motherboard, etc.... but they don't care... so I do it anyway for them. I will not take any lip from them if it blows, because I warned them.
Jak warned me about getting a bigger turbo ASAP after his work, and So far I have, but from listening to his initial judgement call on not running it at 21psi all the time, I think he saved my t25 and i got a few years out of it before i upgraded.
Anyways....
Look... to the original poster... I don't know if anyone has told you this...
but...
when you have tuned your car WAY beyond stock specifications... yet are still retaining most of the original stock engine management system (as opposed to a stand alone system), and you run into problems...
in MY opinion, and in several others, there is ONLY ONE thing you can do to troubleshoot.
You have to get the system back to a point where you know it should work flawlessly, in order to properly diagnose the faulty component, or COMPONENTS, involved.
If this means putting ALL the stock components back in to get your car working at stock levels, then this is something you should be willing to do.
Then you add your perfonamce components back in, as few at a time as possible...
and drive it for a while between each upgrade... to insure that even if things work right away, that it is not an intermittent problem with one of the freshly re-added components.
You can't just go around guessing what might be going on, when you've got so many different things it could be.
I say, it will save you time and headcahes in the long run, if you haven't figured the problem out already, to go back to stock ecu programming, stock injectors, stock everything possible... get the car running at a solid baseline again... and then diagnose from there.
You may find it's none of your performance parts at all... and you wasted a lot of time blaming them or Jak for your misfortunes that actually lie within AGING SAAB FACTORY PARTS in an almost DECADE OR OLDER CAR.
just my 2 cents
jak, if you read this, tell shomzy i said happy birthday, we're both on october 1st right? 20 years old now? wow man... he was a mid teen when i was there... it's been too long, we should meet up soon.
everyone can see pics of the current 9k, the engine swap is almost done... will post pictures soon.
