MA has pretty strict laws regarding tinting. Any reputable shop will not go darker than the law allows. I have whatever the MA legal limit is on the side and rear windows on my 9000, and also on my wife's 9-5. I think 35% light blocking is the MA limit. It does keep the car noticeably cooler, both when you first get in after the car has been in the sun, and it's also easier to keep the temperature you want once you've reached it. (You are probably familiar with the situation of one side of the car being hotter than the other if the sun is shining in one side.) The only issue I've noticed with night vision is very minor, it's when backing up in the 9000, and the 9000 has a notoriously weak backup light anyway. I don't notice anything in the 9-5. The shop that did ours charged a bit under $200, and the 9000 still looks as good as ever after 3 years. I give both cars a thorough detailing every spring, and pull back the rubber weatherstripping seals around the windows and clean them with a wet paper towel, which removes most of the grit that has built up in there over the winter. Besides, the inside, where the tint is, should be relatively clean anyway. I also noticed a small decrease in fuel consumption, since the a/c is working less. So, your tint could pay for itself in about 10 years! It will also save your interior from fading/leather from drying as quickly. I'd be happy to recommend the shop that did our cars, if you happen to be in Boston Metrowest. I'd say there's no downside, only upside, but that's just my opinion.
