We're supposed to drive in the right lane unless passing. Moving over to let a car in from the on-ramp is a courtesy, as would be slowing down, but not required. In every state in the U.S., the Aerostar would have the right of way. Your actions indicated a misunderstanding of the traffic laws and a dangerous attitude. I agree that you got off lucky and should avoid showing your face in court, lest a judge figure out what actually was happening and make your life difficult.
